Samuel E. Adam was born and raised on the south side of Chicago. His law office is currently located in the historic Hyde Park/ Woodlawn area, near the University of Chicago. Sam became death penalty certified in 2010.

Everyday Sam Adam would ask his father, “Can I go to court with you today?” His earliest childhood memory is sitting on the lap of the late Judge Pincham as he conducted a trial. R. Eugene Pincham, a human rights activist who stressed equality for the poor, was a neighbor and family friend. Junior’s middle name is Eugene, named after the former Illinois Appellate Judge. Sam accredits watching his father in the courtroom as the reason he decided to become an attorney.
Sam Adam Sr., described in the media as “the wily old veteran,” is a renowned criminal defense attorney whose high-profile clients have included former U.S. Rep. Mel Reynolds (D-Ill.) and car dealer Bruno Mancari. Both Junior and Senior successfully defended R&B star R. Kelly during the 2008 trial, along with Attorney Ed Genson, another close family friend and mentor.
